Email query

i am considering getting another Android phone after having various issues with my Windows Phone hardware. The only thing stopping me is the Gmail conversations. I hate them. It's the reason I left Android a long time ago. I currently use my gmail account for all mail.

If I was to use something like a live.com account, would the android mail app (the default one) display mail in a standard list and not in any sort of conversation?

In short will conversations only show for gmail accounts?

Yes, if you use default email app and not gmail it will look like old fashioned email type
