email help

I've had my phone for a few months now, I finally figured out how to set up my yahoo email account, when I originally set it up instead of having an email file in my email app, I would get text messages. Before having the driod I had the ENV2. I never recieved these texts. Is there a way I can get rid of these text messages?

When I get one it says the following:

9000080001050://BREW:01013D82:21110LN(my email address)3QazYpLVYEhkKZLkbI1CYcH_x29qynjqPA--

I've noticed that it doesn't change, it's the same thing. Then when I check my email, there may or may not be any email in my inbox(which isn't a problem).

I don't know if anyone else has this issue or not. If you have and resolved it, PLEASE let me know because it's becoming down right annoying!

Thanks
Carrie

Try the Yahoo app and remove your yahoo account from the current app you use.

Help!, My emails are automatically disappearing/deleting after certain amount of time. Where do they go and how can I prevent this from happening. I am using the stock email with an "@shaw.ca" address on Bell mobility in Canada.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum

My first question, is your mail set up as IMAP or POP mail? Second, if IMAP, do you also get that mail somewhere else that is set up as POP. Like on a PC?

Welcome to the forum.. Give us a little more detail as leeshor states so we can help ya...

Are you using Outlook on your pc, if so, when you download them to your pc they are bing deleted from the provider's server. So when your s3 checks for email it reads the server and sees no emails. It then deletes what's on the phone to match the sever. In order to keep the emails on the s3 you need to keep them on the server. If your using Outlook there is a setting that will allow you to download them without deleting them from the server.
I used a workaround, I use a third party email app (aquamail) but don't allow notifications for it, so even when the s3 deletes the email from the stock app, I still have a copy in Aquamail. Hope this helps.

Hi everybody, My email is set up as a POP. I also get email on a pc using outlook. The email app that I am using is the stock "@Email" that came with the S3. The emails are disappearing even though I dont delete them from my pc. I have also checked the box to keep a copy on the server. I hope this is enough information

I think we may be getting somewhere here. 1st of all you probably should have set the email up on your phone as IMAP if at all possible. That not only leaves the received mail on the server but also puts the sent mail on the server as well. If you're going to tell a mail client's leave the mail on the server, as I understand the way you have explained it, it's going to have to be your Outlook that leaves the mail on the server.

What I think is happening is that your Outlook is getting the mail at some point and when it does it will delete the mail off the server if it set up as POP mail. Ultimately, the best thing for you to do would be to set both your Outlook and your phone up as IMAP.

Thank you,

I'm still a little confused regarding the IMAP and POP set up so I will give you a little bit of my usage habits. I always check my emails during the day on my S3 and delete the ones not requiring immediate attention. When I'm at home I then go on either my pc or macbook (in outlook) and re-read the ones I've deleted from my phone and reply as required. This allows me to keep only the important ones on my phone.

On a side note, I'm starting to think that it is a date issue. The emails only go back to Sunday, 3 days and 14 emails total

It sounds as if your Outlook may be checking mail while you're away. That would explain it. So you could set your phone's mail not to delete the mail on the server when you delete it on the phone and leave Outlook closed when you're away or set it to get mail when you hit send/receive only.

Hello....I found this Forum in my search for help with email being deleted from my S3 and it is just exactly what I need. I have Comcast as a server and Outlook on my PC. PC and S3 are both set up as POP3. Messages are on phone as long as Outlock is not open. As soon as I open eail on PC they are deleted from phone. Last phone was Razor and my email stayed until I deleted it. I read the post about IMAP but I have no idea how to do that. Can U help plz?

If I'm not mistaken Comcast is one of the few mail systems that doesn't offer IMAP. Your best option would be to tell your phone to not delete mail from the server then set Outlook to leave the mail on the server for a specified period of time, like 14 days.

Thank you....I believe your are right on Comcasat....However, I cannot find a setting on my S3 to set/tell it to "Not delete mail from the server". Also, I looked at the Outlook 2007 HELP and that says to ck the box "Leave a Copy Of Messages On Server" but the path they suggest does not existon my Outlook. Frustrating!

I'm not using, (any more) the stock mail app on my S3 or S4 so I'm not going to be able to tell you where but I do know the setting exists for not deleting mail from the server when deleted from the phone. You may need to dig a little deeper.

On Outlook, there are several versions in use so you may need to get a little more specific in your search terms as the settings aren't the same from version to version..
