[EB01 WALKTHROUGHS] Rooting, Clockwork, Voodoo, Stock and Custom ROM, Battery, etc
Here is a concise set of walkthroughs for multiple phone customizations.

Even a beginner should be able to follow these walkthroughs.

All walkthroughs are based on the EB01 Froyo (Android 2.2) ROM Series. If this is not your ROM series, please replace the EB01 zip files with the zip files for your applicable ROM series.

If something sounds vague or unclear, let me know and I'll make sure i clear it up in the associated walkthrough. Thanks go to anyone who wrote these mods, wrote portions of these instructions and hosts these files. We would be in the stone age if it weren't for you guys!

These walkthroughs are made as a general guide only.
AS ALWAYS, BACKUP BEFORE YOU FLASH ANYTHING.

Post 1: Must do steps for everything listed below
Post 2: Rooting
Post 3: Installing ClockWork Mod (for new CWM users)
Post 4: Updating ClockWork Mod (for existing CWM users)
Post 5: Upgrade to a Froyo ROM (from any other ROM)
Post 6: Upgrade to a VooDoo kernel
Post 7: Add the AOSP and puzzle lock screen, power options and accurate battery
Post 8: Remove the time from the top bar

MUST DO STEPS FOR ALL FASCINATE CUSTOMIZING:

1. Download and Install Samsung Drivers

64bit:
http://www.wikifilez.com/root%20file...alaxyS_x64.zip
or
32bit:
http://www.wikifilez.com/root%20file...Phones_x86.exe

2. Go to Settings > Applications > Development > Enable Debugging then plug in your phone

Rooting

Prerequisites:
Post 1

Directions:

1.
Extract downloaded FascinateRoot_v02.zip

2. Open the folder where you extracted the FascinateRoot_v02 files

3. Execute START_ROOT

4. Command window will appear
- Carefully read all directions
- Press any key when you are ready to continue

5. When the process is done it will say Complete.
- At this point, hit CTRL+C, unplug and restart your phone.
- Download titanium backup (optional) -- If it asks you for Superuser permission you have successfully rooted

Done!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Trouble Shooting

Most Common Solutions to errors:
1. Make sure you completed Post 1
2. Make sure your phone is connected using the original cable that came with the phone (e.g.: blackberry cables don't normally work)
3. Verify that debugging is enabled.
4. Try to run it again

adb push: Permission Denied
Your SD card is mounted to your PC.
- Use the drop down notification bar to turn off usb storage.
- Close out and start again

Prompt tells you that you do not have permissions

The process failed to grant you temporary root access.
- Close out and begin again.

After continuing from reboot the process freezes for a long time
This is normal. This process take a good 5 minutes, and it will appear frozen throughout this time. Don't freak out. Be patient.

Error Device not found
If this happens after continuing after first reboot, this means that the phone was not properly connected before continuing. After reboot unplug the phone, plug it back in, then continue.

Great Guide,

Got up at 5AM to work on this and I'm running a beautiful bloatless Samsung Fascinate (Just picked this up from Craigslist the day before). The clockwork recovery link has been altered and I had troubles being able to run update.zip to get into Clockwork Recovery. I ended up flashing an older version via Odin and then the rest of the guide worked perfectly fine.

I didn't realize that there is no LED indicator on this phone! This is huge considering I would often just stare at my Droid 1 to see if I had anything important.

In that case you should download noled from the market. Thanks for the guide OP.

Thank you for putting this up on DF.... will be doing this tonight!!

rockin froyo:
super clean 1.0
dark theme

btw, this was 8pen-ed.

I need some help please.

i followed the instructions but am having problems. When I go to download the .Zip file it says invalid signature. I am getting into CWM as I downloaded Rommanager from the market. Manual wont let me update either.

the one wierd thing is when I connected to Odin it only got as far as connection and then sat there. Never really completed or rebooted my phone? Could this be the problem?

What should I do?

This is all I get from Odin after starting it:

<ID:0/007> Added!
<ID:0/007> Odin v.3 engine (ID:7)
<ID:0/007> File analysis..
<ID:0/007> SetupConnection..

And it sits there!
