DX Hacked?

Hello all. I am new to the forums and I have an issue with my DX that just started.

Last night my X had about 50% battery and I knew it would be fine in the morning. I work from home so charging it at my desk is no issue.

I got up this morning and it was dead. I placed it on the charger and proceeded to get my son ready for school.

About an hour later I picked up my phone and turned it on, I noticed at that time the Ringer was set to vibrate. I slid the sound over to enable it and continued to work.

Well I checked my email, and had like 4 new ones but nothing had notified me on my phone. I looked and indeed they did come through and I had a missed call. I checked the ringer volume, which is always up, and it was all the way down.

Well I returned the call. After I got off the phone I looked in my call log to see if I had missed any others and noticed I had approx 12 calls around 3am. OUTGOING. At 3am I was in bed and the phone was on the nightstand. One of the numbers was a 011 number the rest were 800 or 516 numbers.

I did some searching and could not find any information about these numbers except one was for some porn line.

I am taking the phone to Verizon but I was wondering if there was a way to find out which app had initiated the calls?

And before anyone asks, my son is 10 and has his own phone so I know he didnt do it?

Any help is greatly appriciated.

Thanks

Could be a charger issue. Were you using your charger supplied with the phone? Was the charger plugged in near another transformer type plug? Charger cord could be faulty. it will spaz the droid if some/all of these conditions are present.

What charger are you using to charge it? There have been reports of this type of behavior while using non OEM chargers.

I am using the OEM charger. And I find it hard to believe a charger would have any bearing on specifically dialed numbers of which 1 is out of the country and 2 are listed in a google search as porn lines. And none have ever been dialed before so they are not in the history which goes back as far as I have had the phone and they are not in my contact list.

And as stated in my op these calls occurred around 3am which the phone was NOT charging. It was sitting on my nightstand and my chargers are in my office.

*Edit*

I have 2 chargers. 1 is the power cord supplied with th DX and the other is a Motorola Docking station I purchased at the same time.

As much as you "have a hard time believing the charger would cause the phone to do this"....it has in fact been shown that non-OEM(Motorola specific) chargers do in fact cause the DX and other Droid phones, to do weird things, such as calling out on their own. A check of this forum as well as other Android based forums will back that up.

As far as the phone not being plugged in and doing it...I have no clue, other than to say I have on 4 different occasions received calls from 3 digit numbers, and when I went to answer the call, the phone would disconnect from the call immediately...no idea why or how this occurs...but it hasnt happened in about 3 weeks now...

I am sorry for the confusion. I didn't mean to say chargers couldn't cause random things like this. I should have been clearer. The 3 digits are just the area code. I did not want to put the whole number on the post but all of the numbers are 011-xxx-xxxx etc. They are ranging from 30 sec to 1 min 40 sec.

I will post a a list of installed apps and the most recent ones installed as soon as I get back.

thats an international dialing code, have you tried calling the numbers back or checked a detailed bill to see if you were charged? if they were international long distance, you should see it on your bill. there are apps out there that use a dialing mechanism to download wallpapers and pictures.

Ok. I just got my phone replaced. According to Verizon fraud department, an app hijacked my phone and was dialing randomly to a programmed set of numbers. As for which app it was, I don't know, but the local store was told to replace my phone and send the old one to them. I was also told by the fraud department that this was not common but not unheard of. They are supposed to call me next week. They also advised me not to install too many apps at once until they contact me.

As for the numbers dialed, the one with a 011 code is actually blocked by Verizon. I don't know why but I was told it was blocked from their system and could not be connected. I tried to call it and the call failed. None of the other numbers are familiar to me.

As soon as I know which app I will post it there.
