Dumb question

I recently unbricked my phone after 2 days I went ahead and changed to a 3g galaxy (which by the way I hated) anyways I had to burn the Sim card so I cant activate it until I recieve the new one.
I was so happy that I was able to unbrick it that I wanted to jump on my w-fi and I can't is there something in the sim card that stops this?

Im assuming that your phone tries to make you activate it when you turn it on and maybe thats why you cant get into settings to turn wifi on? If so, power down the phone, hold both volume keys down, and turn it back on. There should be an option to boot into safe mode, and I believe if you boot into that, it will let you skip the activation part, and you be able to see your homescreens, app drawer, etc.. From that point you should be able to get into settings and turn wifi on as you normally would.

Havoc I see app go to wi-fi hit connect input wep key but they won't mate tried twice.
I'm wondering if thats incorporated in the sim card to prevent more thefts, If I try and start it without a simcard will that do something that may prevent my from using it or my bigger comcern is there and script on boot that when it doesn't see the sim it put into some security mode.
I pushed through the activation so I am at the home screen
like i said it just won't mate

hmm that is odd, I dont believe youll do any harm to the phone by booting it without a SIM in it but Im not sure. If you do boot it without a SIM you may have to boot it with safe mode to use it like I mentioned above. That may allow your wifi to work if what youre saying about the link between the SIM and the permissions of the phone happens to.be true.

I dont really know anything for sure pretty much just guessing lol but I was in a similar predicament with my Bionic when I got it. I remember i was able to use it with wifi but I cant remember if i took out the faulty SIM to do it, or if I
I left it in there. All I know for sure is that using it with wifi like you want should definitely be possible.

havoc what I think happened was since there wasn't the valid sim and I couldn't go through set up which can only be done initially through Verizons server and I just kept backing out to get to home screen So if its asking you to set it up and you keep going back it never got set up. T
Solution was reboot phone. 8^)
