I have a droidx 2 and I want to root it. Is it the same process as the regular Droid X.(Z4)

You start by looking in the DX2 section and looking around for information. If you can't find something then you post in the DX2 section. Which is why I moved you here.

You can't use z4 on droidx2 it wont work ..you have to use gingerbrick to root the DROID x2 that work just fine
