Droid X slow charging from laptop/auto

My Droid X charges fine with the AC adapter, but really slow in car or USB - laptop. Is this normal?

All phones are like that, the wall charger puts out much more amperage than the usb port, some car chargers however do put out a decent amount.

For example on my droid 1 chargers

Wall charger: 850mA
Car charger: 700mA
USB port on computer: 500mA OR LESS (500 is the maximum put out by any computer, and most will fall well below that.)
