Droid x SD problems

So I've had my X for quite a while now and lately I've noticed that its been lagging when I open files or when it goes to the homescreen and it started to bug me because it just got worse to the point where it froze while I was using google maps. I rebooted it but took out the SD card (I don't know y) but then my X was super fast like never before? Any ideas what might be the problem with the SD card?

If you have cashe for the browers turned on ... or apps running from the sccard. These things will slow down the X as the memory card isn't that fast.

Turns out it was avg antivirus app idk why butt I reformatted the sd and moved apps from sd to phone and it did nothing until I deleted avg which was the last thing I downloaded
