Droid X Lock Keeps unlocking

I have a Droid X, every time i turn on the password, ill lock my phone then eventually unlock it. It requires me to do the pattern lock once, but the next time i unlock my phone there is no lock. It just gets removed. When i restart my phone it says this: "The password that previously protected the phone had to be removed during the software update process.""Click on "Set Password" to setup a new password or "Cancel" to leave your phone unprotected."

My phone is up to date with no updates i can download, Im running Android 2.2.1 and the System Version is 2.3.340. My phone is also rooted. I rooted it with Z4Root. So why is my phone doing this. Also When i go into the android market, it only lets me view my paid applications, none of the free applications i have downloaded appear at all. Is it possible i have a virus?
