Droid x installing ROM can I leave plugged in?

I have received one answer but would like more detail. When anyone installs a ROM , Can I leave droid X plugged in? Can I leave plugged into USB/AC or both?

Trying to prevent a brick. I did not know if plugged in it would start debugging mode and mess something up.
