Droid X Custom Boot Logo I'll create

I've been contemplating something like this guys, but most conclusions result in a lot of time.

Anything we can come up with, I'm on board. I can submit every one I've done in the D1 hacks thread as well.

Maybe for now it might be easier for me to archive all of the JPG previews and share them so ppl know what's been made.

It would take some time but I think I can share a txt file with links to posts for each one.

OK my turn to attempt to remove my foot from my mouth lol. I didn't really think through how much time it would take. I would still like to see something like this happen and am definately willing to help, but I don't have a whole lot of time to put into it, between school and my 6 kids. Anything I can do to help tho just let me know.
Also, I made a few logos for myself and feel comfortable doing them for others if midgetgrimm gets burned out or to free up his time to work on the library idea. Again, I can't promise to keep up if the requests start coming on fast again, but I'll do what I can.

Appreciate the offer Doc! I mainly get to logos and other such items on the weekend. I am going to take a look at chkm8's stack of them and see what I can do, the biggest thing is it will take time, and a lot of clicks lol. The hardest to do I think is to make thumbnails of each one so you know what you are getting, that might be the game stopper. To have to upload each pic to an IMG source will take lots and lots of time. Like I said, I will take a look, but I don't have hours on end to do this as I have a 5 month old myself, who really loves laughing! I'll let you know tomorrow night if I can do this!!!:icon_ banana:

All the attachment/thumbnails are included in that zip. I always show the 480x182 pics when I post logos for people. This way if they preview from their phone, with the forum app it displays just as it would be when installed.

No problem Grimm, I know how kids can limit your time lol. I did go through chkm8's zip (very quickly cause I should be studying chemistry right now ) and there were maybe 5-6 that didn't have a pic attached. I could pull those out to complete the zip file. Not sure if all the ones in the thread have pics though, those might take some time. Again, I'm willing to help out when I can. After today I should be fairly free for the weekend (evenings anyway, I'm not too old to stay up late after the kids go to bed lol).

Edit: here's one of mine (I also did a ford logo before I realized that it had already been done, and one of my wife, which I am not posting for obvious reasons )

I also noticed this and also attach previews for all. Most if not all of my d1 SBFs are zipped with the previews too.

I do like your idea of at least posting jpegs so people aren't requesting ones that have already been done but ideally if they saw one they liked they could download it right there rather than sifting through 1300+ posts to find the link.

No, absolutely not. My thinking, though, is that if everyone can see what's been done on either side, they can either download the BMPs and do it themselves, or request that a certain one be converted for their phones.

I figure for both sides it's faster to make one from bitmaps than from scratch. Especially with as much time as it must take to look through these threads, for the new user it would be easy to download all previews and then ask for a specific one. A lot of people with various phones start at the Droid Hacks thread, not knowing that all of the files contained are for the D1 only.

I've got all of the ones I've done on my work laptop now. I'll go through and sort them this weekend and try to upload previews. It may be helpful to contact the thread OPs and see if they can update the 1st post with info and links. Otherwise, it may be possible to get a new thread stickied that is meant to be a gallery and repository of boot logos. Ideally, it seems like combining the D1 and D2/DX together would be the best idea.

Then again, as was just mentioned, this may be a lot of work for a soon-to-be outdated resource. :unsure:

Yeah, that's why I was thinking I'd need to link them myself and post in a text file, or my next idea, the stickied repository where we maintain the thread ourselves.

I don't know how that works. Can several people be given mod access to one thread? I was kinda thinking we could keep the threads we've got going for requests, but post the finished product into a sticky. Maybe that's too much work?

I'd say let's just sticky our two threads, but then you lose the possibility of combining our resources. Between chkm8 and myself, and those before us, we've generated quite a few boot logos. It'd be nice to have some available in both formats

I agree. And as newer devices come out and people much smarter than me start hacking them, maybe these logos could be converted to work on them. That way this effort may not be completely wasted if the d1/2/x's fade out, although personally I think they've got a fair amount of life left in them... I hope so considering I've only had mine 3 months lol.
