DROID RAZR MAXX availability problems?

Picked up a MAXX yesterday at my local Verizon corporate store here in Rome, Georgia. As the store rep was activating my Sim card I overheard another sales rep telling a customer that the RAZR MAXX is available through direct fulfillment only. I guess I got lucky and picked up the last one

Vzw did a free upgrade out of the blue on my sons line, and is sending a new maxx. It'll be here Monday. They didn't mention any availability issues. But when I was in the vzw store the other day, they were out. So idk.

The thing is that down here in southeast TX, there are alot of people who use cricket and T-Mobile prepaid. A person that works at the vzw store said alot of their phones get sent to Houston. Again idk.

I walked into my Verizon corporate store on tuesday at 8 pm at night. They had at least 5 left.

This could be a regional thing. I wonder if the chassis is the same for the fighter/RAZR HD??? This is just pondering, and probably of little consequence to the maxx.
