Check out the latest video reviews on YouTube. It shows a Motorola razr being demonstrated and notice that the Google logo on the back of the phone just under the M logo, and on the front bottom and the very bottom on the back it has Verizon logos. Check it out.
No, it is an ANDROID device. DROID is a brand name used by Verizon (and they pay dearly to use it, as well) for certain Android phones in their lineup.
There is no such thing as a non-Verizon "droid device".
"Droid" is just a gimmick... I have not seen any benefits of "Droid" branded devices. At least with "Beats" branded phones, one is getting some nice in ear pieces. "Nexus" branded phones, have zero bloat and latest first hand updates.
To "ME", there was only one Droid, and that is the Motorola's OG DROID. It was that phone that has really defined the "Droid" brand, next to nothing of bloat, simple, powerfull, nothing has been compromised at that time of the release in terms of hardware, thus the reason it is still going strong today...
Today, "Droid" branding does not mean anything special anymore...
I couldn't agree more. While "Droid" is still reserved for Verizon's "high end" Android devices, what good are they when they're behind the curve, full of bloat, and packing bulletproof bootloaders?
I'm always getting teased by my family that I'm what they refer to as a "Phone Geek". So I know a little about my phone. So what! I look at it as if I'm gonna pay premium price for a high end phone that I have to make sure it's gonna last me you bet I'm gonna find out everything I need to know to care for it! Why wouldn't you. No more different with all new ones coming out. That's why we research it before you commit to it. It's buyer beware in this industry. What is now wont be tomorrow. If I can find ways to make my Og.Droid better I'll do it. So if that makes me a Phone Geek well... I guess I am.
AND PROUD OF IT!!
