Droid Pro System Update error message

I just got a Droid Pro for my son, and when I went to check it for a system update, I got an error message stating I needed a motorola account first. I never got that message with my two Droid X's or my other Pro. When I click set up, it tells me the server is not available, then asks if I want to try setting up a wireless connection or retry the standard connection. No matter which I try, the result is the same. Failure. Any ideas?

I tried that a few times already. I called big red and they are replacing it.
