Sorry, this video cannot be played

I get an error while playing these videos. The video will open and play but after a little while a message will pop up saying, "sorry, this video cannot be played" but the video's still playing!? I hit "ok" and then it closes it. What gives?

using BBv1.0 and have tried videos from OP and 5 or 6 others ones. They all give me the error at different times. (streaming mp4 through 3G)

Your ROM or some theme is causing the problem.

There are a couple of other threads on video playback issues with different roms as well.

I flashed a backup of SG v6.0.1 that I had. The audio on the NBC.com site would not come through. It seems to me it's a problem with the ROM. Works fine with Cyanogen 5.0.6.2

The files work fine and have no problems.

The ROM dev said that the problem is because of high clock speeds. I was overclocked at 1.0 ghz but brought it down to 800 mhz and it seems to be playing better. I've still gotten the error, just not as often. I'll try 600mhz and see if that eliminates it. Thanks!

I guess its one of the disadvantages of having an "open" OS on anything. With so many things to "hack" in Android, you gain functionality in one area, and lose something in another.

For video playback you don't need a higher clockspeed. The playback is hardware-accelerated on the Droid.

I don't have a Droid myself, but if the overclocking is similar as on PC's (if not, ignore this), try leaving the bus-speed as is, and just increase the multiplier. That way the video-chip does not get overclocked.

I just mentioned this in a different post, however, I figured it might be handy to include the information in my own Trailer-thread.

The Internet Archive (Internet Archive: Free Movies, Music, Books & Wayback Machine) is a website that collects old stuff. It contains different snapshots of most websites found on the internet (I use it whenever I google for information and end up on a site that is no longer there) but it also contains movies and tv-shows that are out of copyright.

This means you can LEGALLY download these movies and tv shows.

Many of them are available in different file formats, including iPod-compatible MP4, and actually have the streaming-flag enabled, so you can watch them directly on your Droid, just like the MP4 trailer links in the other posts in this thread.
