Droid lagging bad, even when I try to unlock

I am not technologically savvy when it comes to this stuff, so please forgive me. Over the past couple of months this problem has grown worse. When I swype to unlock my phone or sometimes even to answer an incoming call, there is a huge delay in the phone responding to the touch command. Sometimes it will not respond at all and I have to hold the power button down and it will eventually let me power it off and then the problem is resolved for a couple of days. I do not have a ton of apps on my phone. I have the task killer app to try to preserve my batterly life by stopping so many apps from running all of the time. Any suggestions?

Number one suggestion: get rid of the task killer. Its hurting you. Instead, let the system handle apps and always use the back button when exiting an app. Only use the home button when trying to multitask.

Turing it off once a day had fixed almost all of my issues...but get rid of that task killer it's hurting more then helping.
