Droid eris back speaker broke

The back speaker on the eris that plays the phone ringer, and many media sounds like youtube and the navigator voice no longer plays. I tried going to the verizon store but my warranty has expired and my phone upgrade isn't until mid september.

Is there any way to fix this problem even temporarily or is my phone forever on vibrate until my upgrade comes?
