Droid Contact list won't permit changing ringtones or assigning to favorites

I've been trying to set ringtones for certain contacts in the contact list. The application lets me get to the screen to select the ringtone I desire and then I hit OK, but the contacts record still shows 'default'.

Similarly, if I attempt to assign a contact to the favorites list, the 'star' turns yellow when I click on it, but once I leave the contact & return, it has not been set. Similar results if I click & hold on any contact and then select 'Add to favorites' from the popup menu.

Is there a contact list corruption issue or possibly a bug here?

Did you ever figure this out? I'm having the same issue - I can mark the star yellow in the contacts screen or call log, etc, but once I leave that screen & go back it's no longer yellow, and the contact is not added to my favorites list.

Hope someone can help!
