Droid Battery Issues (Temperature issues)

I seem to be having some battery issues with my Thunderbolt. I had my extended battery in and it would not charge (blinking red/green), so I removed the battery for a few hours and then plugged it back in and would still not charge. So i let the phone die and tried to charge while turned off, still nothing. I put in the regular battery and it also will not charge (red/green flicker). I opened up spare parts battery info, and it says the battery is overheated (but I'm in air conditioning, battery isn't warm). The spare parts also says the battery temperature is -54.-2 deg C. When I also attempt to use the flashlight app it reads "too cold weather to use". Again, I'm in an office building at work (70 degrees F). Does this mean the temperature gauge on the phone is messed up? Any tips?
