I have tried to unroot several times and it keeps failing. I've downloaded and used the Droid 4 ICS tool which has failed after several attempts. I then received the OTA and am unsure how to proceed. I have a dead earpiece and want to send it in for repair but need to unroot first obviously.

Any suggestions would be great.

Is it under warranty? If not I don't think you would have to un-root. It is not illegal.

rooting your device voids most manufactuers and insurance co. warrenties

....................

which version of android are you on? ics or JB?
that would determine which proggie you should use to unroot your device
but mainly if you remove any bootstrap you have the ota should remove the root for you

Yes that's why I asked if it was under warranty. It will void the warranty.

I'm on 4.1.2. I think I installed safestrap about 6 months ago but I don't remember now. I rooted it and then never did anything else since so I forgot what's been done. How can I check?

overlayer-

Can you explain it a bit better to a complete noob like me? I want to restore my phone to factory after rooting it in Sept of 2012. You say 'just sbf'in back to stock' and 'not suggest root/unroot'. Can I do that to restore my system or no?
