Droid 2 Screen is Dead/Black

i was using handscent this morning to send a text message and my screen went black. my phone has been resetting itself about once a day so i thought that is what it was. the screen came back after thirty seconds. this happened three times.

then my screen went black and hasn't come back on.

if i call the phone it rings. i get message alerts audibly.

is i press "x" and the power button i get a droid guy and a triangle with an exclamation point in it.

now what?

remove the battery, leave it out for a few minutes, and try to boot it up normally.

i have tried that with the battery several times. no good.

this is a known problem since the update 2.3.20. you have to wait for it to reset itself. vzw said try factory reset or just wait until next phone update

On the screen you speak of you can clear data/cache and reboot, try that.
