Droid 2 Root and Rom

So lately I have been getting really annoyed with some keyboard bugs and glitches with the latest gingerbread update. I put up with it but finally I got fed up with it. I have been looking for some ways too root but am concerned that they are dated and won't work. Any suggestions for someone new at rooting? Also I was looking at some custom roms. What i was wanting to do was hopefully run the liberty rom in order to get rid of these annoying os bugs. How do i tell if it will work with my bios version or not? All the guides i find are from the beginning of 2011 or late 2010... Any tips?

I just tested the new ezSBF plus root

and it works good for both SBF and or Rooting
you may want to try that
