Hello,

I'm new here and I have been reading for a couple of days now. I live in Costa Rica and this is my first Android phone :)

I got my D2G last week. I wanted to give Fission a try. I'm new to Android and this is what I'm facing:

I rooted my phone (z4root)
Installed Droid 2 Bootstrap
Installed Fission Rom Manager.

Followed the instructions in order to dowload Fission 2.4.3 for the D2G.

The phone rebooted and the ROM installed succesfully.

I tried the process several times and no success. It stays in a loop where I see the android animation and then for a couple of seconds the screen that says touch the android to begin, then it comes back to the android animation.

One time I was able to pass that screen and the phone actually got to the home screen but then it just started rebooting and staying on that loop.

I would like to know if you have some suggestions on what I could do...

I cleared the cache, wipe data/factory...same result.

And also, that one time that I was able to get the home screen, just before that, it showed up a screen asking for an activation code...why? It actually didn't take my SIM card.

Am I missing something?

Right now I'm back to stock from a nandoid backup.

Thank you in advance!

Try updating to the latest verizon version prior to flashing the Fission ROM. In my experience it's provided the best stability.

From your settings menu select "about phone" and then "system updates".

Thank you Tdank,

This is what I have in my phone right now:

Version.2.4.330.A956.Verizon.en.US
DROID2 GLOBAL
Android Version 2.2
Baseband N_01.48.05R
Kernel: 2.6.32.9-g9e2c63d xrpk47@il93lnxdroid25 #1
Build Number: VZW

I think it is up to date, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks again...

Fow now thats the latest version.

You may want to try flashing Fission using bootstrap recovery rather than allowing the Fission ROM manager to do it. You can download the ROM using FRM, but then rather than installing it from the FRM, jsut reboot into recovery and install the .zip you downloaded. Make sure you download the full d2g ROM and not the update.

Ok, here is what is happening now...

I boot into recovery, cleared data/factory reset and cache partition.
Installed from SD card: D2_Global_Fission_2.4.3.zip.

Then the phone rebooted and the same loop. Android animation and then the android logo.

I took my SIM card out, I guess what...the phone booted just fine!

As soon as I put my SIM card the phone just keeps rebooting.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

There is a SIM card fix in the Fission Rom Manager I believe. Being in the states I have not had to make use of it yet, but, it may help you out.

OK, I tried several times with no success...even with the SIM fix.

But before posting, I did it one more time...

I went back to stock, removed my SIM card.
Follow the instructions step by step from TeamdeFuse site. (Manual Install)
Installed Fission successfully.
Rebooted the phone.
Installed Fission Rom Manager and Installed the SIM Fix from the app.
The phone rebooted and then I turned it off.
Inserted my SIM back and it actually took it and worked.

I don't know if it makes any difference or not but I removed the 4 digit security PIN from my SIM card.

Very happy with Fission now! :)

Thanks a lot Tdank.

And Thank you everyone for this great Forum!
