Downloading Apps concern

I was going to download an app called Gas Buddy, I use it on my PC, well just before D/L it tells me that the app will have access to Location, ok. hardware controls ?. Take pictures.? Phone, read phone state and idenity ect. I noticed with some other apps they also seem to want to have access to many items on the phone, is this safe or is it inviting spam or other? Just a newbie here and it just does not sound right.

Good question! It is wise to watch what access the different apps require. Like you, I worry about personal information being available. Perhaps I'm just lucky because I have between 70 and 80 apps installed, some of which require access personal info, but I've not had any issues.

I had Gas Buddy installed for a couple of weeks about 2 months ago and had no problems with it. Looking at its permissions, nothing there raises serious concerns to me.
