Dont Sing it - BRING IT!

The Droid and other Android non-Verizon phones do have video conferencing capabilities... Fring (using Skype protocol... OVER 3G too!)...Droid just does not have a front-facing camera so use a mirror, I had an entire conversation with a friend in Croatia earlier this week using this method (Droid+Fring+mirror = Droid Does)... and, come-on, how many people do you really see using it in public (i.e. over Wifi)... Android FTW! dancedroid
WORTHLESS WITHOUT PICS!!! :icon_ banana:

3G + Droid + Camera + Fring + mirror + brother in central PA (not the same guy from earlier) + Dell netbook with Skype and webcam = booyah! (oh and Droid Does)

... however, upon further pondering I'm not sure if you can do this Droid to Droid (or any other Android phone ftm)... must test!... if anyone wants to find out pm me

No disrespect intended here but to stop being friends with someone because they own an iPhone is just taking it over the top. Just because you despise apple doesnt mean your friends should pay for it. .

I agree, I have many friends that make poor choices ;)

LOL exactly. My Brother owns an iPhone. I wonder what he would do if he had a brother than owned an iPhone?

My brother owns an iphone, my dad has my iphone 3gs from when I SWITCHED CARRIERS, and I used to own an iphone (the one my dad has now) . Its a phone .....nuff said.

Call me a fanboy if you want, I don't care, but I wouldn't waste a turd to take a crap on an apple product. I will tell people their iphone is a piece of crap, and I will not befriend a person with an iphone. I will, and have, desolved established friendships because said friend got an iphone. I despise apple and I want anyone that owns an apple device to get jailtime for said offense.

Fanboy is not the word that comes to mind.

It's just my personal preference, shouldnt even matter to anyone here. I wont be friends with a serial killer either, nor do I hang out with drug dealers. Not saying that iphone users are in the same class as the other 2, I just dont want to be around them.

Before you start name calling I'll just go ahead and say that I'm not a "kid", I'm a college graduate, with a family and a stable, well respected career. I just hate apple enough to not even want to be in the presence of their products and that my choice to make.

Its just a weird choice, like if you wear blue i won't even stop to call 911 if you was being raped right in front of me. You deserve it for wearing blue.
I'm just assuming you was joking and refuse to take back the joke just because some people took it serious.
Frankly i like making friends with iphone owners, that way i can joke on them with my still stocked droid. Can't wait to root.

I was joking about one part at least, I dont really believe iphone users should get jail time :P. I really wont be friends with people that have iphones though, and it has nothing to do with the persons character since the phone doesnt make the person, I just cant be around people that have them. The typical iphone owner (not all of them but the overwhelming majority) is usually not a power user and is ignorant about the capabilities of most devices, and I'm just tired of explaining to them why I dont like the iphone.

Analysts pleased by Apple's decisions | Apple - CNET News
"The gee-whiz feature of iPhone 4 is FaceTime (videochat), adding yet another feature which historically was tied to a personal computer," Munster wrote in a note to clients on Monday.
i wish HTC would have thought about video conferencing on a phone before apple!:icon_ poke:

I seriously cannot take anymore of these uninformed editorials. The OS may appear to be more polished (v. stock Android), but none of the "features" are new. And in regards to some of the google highlights (i.e. Chrome to Phone, etc) there'll be an app for that too I imagine (or at least 50 of them)

HAH!!!!! Steve Jobs' little address to the Apple Nation just makes me LAUGH too!! Android will always be one step ahead... AAPL's stock is at 250 and GOOG is selling at 485
yeah but in apples defense, google does way more than apple. they have google.com, gmail, all kinda of other stuff, and now android is just on top of that. apple is doing pretty good for themselves.

and is no one going to comment on the irony of how steve lost service in the middle of his speech?

I just shared in on Facebook for all my friends to chew on haha. I agree with an earlier statement ... Its purely a rivalry, I am completely outnumbered between people at work and my friends but I will fight to the death with them on how much better my Droid is. I ended all debates 2 days when I busted out the "Hey look at this, I can watch porn on any website I so choose, you lose". Everyone I know with an Iphone would kill for Flash. BTW I even argue with my friends that have the Incredible. My phone blows theirs out the water. My fiance has the Eris my friend has the Incredible and I have the Moto Droid. All ran Linpack Eris 2mflops, Incredible 7mflops ... Mine 21mflops ... FTW

AHHAHAHHAHA. i thought this guys was joking until he started defending himself. i have a question though that i would love to hear your answer to.

i currently have a droid, but i also have an iphone. the iphone doesn't have service. i rarely use my iphone unless i have to use it for an app that android doesn't have. to make this even more difficult for you i use my droid to wirelessly tether to my iphone when i do need to use it. so i was wondering... can we still be friends? oh and please... please explain your answer.

Not sure how you define "better multitasking".

Switching between apps is basically the same. Linux/Unix based. Apps just save their state when you switch out and then resume from that state when you switch in.

Background services are a lot more controlled on "iOS 4". There's only 7 services that devs have access to. On Android you can pretty much create your own service. It's 7 vs infinity.

I didn't see anything new with the OS that was outstanding in any way. It's a closed system and hence will slowly catch up to what other open systems have done all along. Apple does that to ensure things run how they want. Up to the user to decide which method is better, if either.

from the video i saw it actually shows you what's running natively. as far as i know there's no way to do that conveniently on android right now. you can see the last 8 programs that were opened, but it's not showing you what's running (or in a saved state). i like that there's a native and convenient way to manage your open apps.

Ironically I've been reading from Apple fanbois that any sort of task manager at all is complete fail. It's all the same ****. You switch programs. If one is slightly different than the other is there really a difference?

I care more about services. Apple gives you 7, which may be adequate. I dunno. But Android lets the user decide what's necessary. It's the same Open vs Closed debate.

i'm not saying i like apple more. i'm saying both companies are going to keep on pushing each other farther. i've read everything about how task managers are pointless, but it's not the point. i want to know what's still "open". i also like a fast way to close something. i hate having to get back into a program, then hit the soft key, then more, then power options, then quit. and that's if it even happens to have a quit button. if not you have to run a task manager which is still another program that has to be opened to close something. i don't care how good a program is, sometimes it has to be closed and re-opened. instead of holding home and the last eight opened apps come up, all open apps should pop up with a fast way to close it, most likely again holding on that icon. that's all i'm saying.
