This is normal... they all do. It's the lens warming up I believe. Basically someone, with much more camera knowledge than I, said that it's basically the lens 'extending' itself, similar to how a traditional camera lens extends out from the camera.
That is simply the camera focusing, the clicking sound is the actual lens moving in and out to make the picture sharp. This is a feature, not a fault. Autofocus yes yes yes
You should breathe a sigh of relief when you hear this noise. The camera has physical auto-focus, the first of its kind in a phone. This is why you can get incredibly sharp pictures with your Droid.
