In an effort to link all soldiers in the battlefield and expedite all processes that are handled in the field, the Army is looking into using smartphones to do that. They are considering Android, iPhone and others but are leaning more toward Android because of it's open source and the ability for more people to write programs. They even mention soldiers having the ability to make apps on the fly in the field if it is necessary.
I don't know about y'all but this is a good thing in my opinion. It would help the soldier first and foremost. Secondly, it would further the development of our OS and it would also broaden the widespread use of Android devices. Not to mention the amount of money that the DOD would dump into the development of android which would in turn draw more developer's and an even better marketplace for us
