I want to know if this update will actually most likely fix the data connection issue because i just got my bionic yesterday and its very annoying. I like the phone, but hate the connection issue. Do you guys suggest i wait for the update, or trade in my bionic for samsung charge?
I had the charge...it has drops too...not on the same scale though...the bionic is tons more powerful and is quite an awesome phone...miss the charge still though...nice screen and better connection
There is no set date. Back in late October the "official" announcement was 30 to 60 days, meaning between now and the end of the year. There are some "leaked" updates that you can install yourself, but read all before trying as some don't work and may cause a problem with the OTA update.
In addition, this'll be very random, if it's like all the other OTA updates. So random that if you bought 2 Bionics the same day, one could get the update long before the other one.
will getting a new phone might fix the problem or no, all are the same? Also, why even when i have full 4g, nothing loads? 3g loads stuff but 4g wont even load mail or google.
I would call VZ about 4G not loading things, that's strange. my 4G has always been blazing fast. Last official moto announcement (from FB) was "by the end of the year". Some of the next gen LTE's (Rezound, and Nexus) aren't having as much issue as the bionic with data, and apparently VZ tower updates are fixing most of the problem, the rest will come when Moto fixes the data transition handling (3g-4g-3g-wifi-etc)
wait, so rooting does help? How? i was told it does not. Maybe i should root it, and if it does not help return it. The people at vzw wont know its rooted right? is there a way they will check or no/

No, rooting doesn't help with signal, data drops, etc. And YES, they will know at Verizon that it is rooted if you return it rooted.
+1 on the advice that you call Verizon if you are having signal/service problems. In TX for about 2 days, they were working on the 4G network and if I hadn't called, I wouldn't have had any idea that was the case.
Rooting could help in a non-direct kinda way (allowing you access to some leaked updates via cheesecake), but if you don't know what it is and haven't done it before or read up on it enough to be comfortable trying it, DON'T do it. Rooting is fairly easy to do, but you gotta do your homework first. If you do it wrong or don't unroot properly, you can't exchange it or rely on a warranty replacement as rooting voids the warranty.
