Display Broken, need to transfer files to PC and wipe clean

Hello! First time poster, here.

My Display cracked and died a slow death transitioning first to pink, then eventually to black. The phone is functional otherwise. I got a replacement and am currently using it, but now I must send my old phone back. Problem is, I would like to retrieve my files/photos/data and I do not feel comfortable sending the phone with any of my personal information still on it.

I know, I know ... I was damn stupid and did not back up my information beyond my contacts. I will never make that mistake again, and am using a combination of dropbox and google to backup my stuff.

I connected the old display-less phone to my pc via USB, and can see the file directories, but my pc seems to think it's a camera. I can't 'mount as USB drive' because I have no display. Now, I can't find my 'gallery' of images that I would like to transfer to pc and delete from phone. In fact, the only jpg files I can find in the entire directory are in a folder called "Downloads" and are only those I received as attachments to text messages or emails. My own photos are no where to be found.

Any advice? I would be MOST appreciative! :)

You can always try mybackup pro in market and save ask your stuff to sd card, do factory reset and reinstall on your new phone. But since you didn't save your pics, kinda late for that unless you have them saved to phone...

Thank you, but can this be done with no display, no way to input anything into phone?

Well one thing you can do is get an hdmi adapter and a cheap blue tooth keyboard and mirror the phone on the tv. Hook up the adapter and plug it into your tv so you can see the screen, then use the keyboard to navigate. Only problem I can think of is it might be hard to pair..

Great idea. I will have to try that - the pairing of the keyboard may be tough because I think I might have to select the bluetooth device on the phone. We will see, but again, thank you!

Did this work for you? I'm in the same situation right now with my wife's phone.

Where is the HDMI port on this thing?
