Deleting "Recent" email message recipients/senders

I have noticed when I start a new e-mail and start typing contacts in the To line or selecting the little contact icon on the To line and going to the Recent screen it has a whole bunch of contacts that are not in my phone contact list. They are actually e-mails of everybody from all my e-mail accounts that I have received e-mail messages from or sent to, such as all my promotional e-mails that I received from like L.L. Bean etc. How do I delete these? I can not find a way. I really only want my contacts that I have entered into the phone. All my e-mail accounts have sync off for contacts and these contacts are not stored in any of my e-mail accounts contact list either. I have just received e-mails at one time or another.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks!
