Day 2 with my D2

Well my co-workers applaud me for leaving Blackberry, and only a couple thought I should have went with an iPhone. I have literally given myself a headache trying to cram so many instructions in my brain to get my phone up and running.

I searched this forum for some particular answers to some of my questions and couldn't find quite the answers I was looking for. Please forgive me but I'm going to drop them here.

One thing I loved about my BB was the calendar. What is up with the D2 calendar? I had my contacts transferred over and I lost all of their birthdays. I'm looking at the calendar and the set-up is missing some parts. Maybe I'm just going through the change of having a very different phone. A little help here please. Is there a free app that someone can recommend that will let me drop in my appointments/birthdays/repeat events, but also be able to read across the screen Blackberry style. Ok, I got a little spoiled on that part. Between work and personal items I have to able to read the info on my phone without have to kiss the phone trying to read the small font.

Where is my option setting that lets me change the font on my entire phone or is there such a thing?

Having a problem removing the back cover so I can make sure I got a SD card. I'm afraid of breaking the phone, but the cover is not moving.

Is there a voice recorder on the phone and it's just named something different?

Is there a shortcut to putting the phone on vibrate or silent right before you walk into a movie theater? I don't want to spend several minutes trying to figure it out and I don't want to completely turn off the phone.

To any Verizon customers...can we still get the VZ Navigator? I can't find it on the apps anywhere.

You can tell I'm very cell phone savy...NOT.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.dancedroid

Peace!

Welcome to the forum I can answer some of your questions the others I will direct you to the d2 section for those who use their phone more for business.

Glad you finally got your phone, I can help with a few things...as far as "silent mode" your unlock screen doubles as a silent on/off option, instead of dragging the tab on the left to the right to unlock...drag the tab on the right to the left to silence

To get the battery cover off put some pressure by pushing in and pulling down at the same time is should be tight...the memory card is only accessible with the battery removed and your phone should not be started up without the memory card in place

As far as the voice recorder and Verizon apps they are both in the market - search "my verizon" and "voice search"

For voice recording I use the App Voice Recorder (can be found on the marketplace).

For silencing your phone just push the volume button down and at least on my D1 it will go to vibrate mode.

Hope that helps.

This question I will have to direct you to the d2 forum cuz I went from iphone to droid.

You can not make major changes to the font with out rooting, but in settings scroll down to accessibility to allow for zooming in and making texts larger. The first button, which is the four square buttons, is your settings/menu button.
In the market is an app called spare parts you can use that to change your font size as well

So was I which is why I kept my droid 1 back cover.

There are a bunch of free market apps that are voice recorder apps.

My response in green, and we all have been where you are at. It is a nice device and I believe you will enjoy it. Give it some time to learn it.

As far as silencing goes, the right slider when you tap unlock will silence/unsilence your phone.

And the Google navigation program is called Navigation. It's icon is a blue arrow. It's FAR superior to anything VZW has ever pushed out.

Have fun

Not to mention you don't have to pay ten bucks a month or 3 bucks a day for the service!

Thanks everyone for your insightful info. Good news is I got the memory problem solved. Just about broke my thumb trying to get the back cover off, so I've decided to go back to the Verizon store and get one of the guys to do it.

I'm trying to find a app for a calendar and a memo. So far all the calendar apps I found tie into Gmail and I don't want that. I had a couple of apps that I tried and they were so bad I ended up uninstalling them. I tried to sync my Gmail calendar with the calendar on the D2 (I put in a test event), and I was unable to sync period. I got so mad I just deleted the calendar on Gmail. Between the two apps the calendar is the one I really need...can anyone recommend a decent calandar app that is not tied to Gmail?

Thanks much!
