Date of Dec 31, 1969 Showing on ALL Email

New to forum. Posting this in an effort to find a solution for this issue. Just got the Droid 2 (up from my Droid 1) yesterday. All emails in my POP accounts show the same date of Dec 31, 1969. Very annoying. Below are my facts and things that i have tried to no avail. Anyone have a suggestion please post or email me , I love the phone otherwise.

TALKED TO:
  • Verzizon Level 2 tech. They are aware of the issue (even though level 1 is not) but do not have a fix.
  • Motorola basically same answer they suggested I change my phone, did that today. As soon as I put in my Pop email accounts, Dec 31, 1969 on every single one.
  • Local Verizon store. They are aware but do not know of a fix. Interestingly they said they have seen this on other phones than Droid.
THINGS I HAVE TRIED but did NOT work:
  • Changed to new phone
  • Hard reset
  • Changing time & time to AUTO and back on again.
  • Recreated POP accounts
  • Set email Delivery to DATA PUSH
OTHER NOTES:
  • Gmail account is fine seems only to be an issue with POP account email Headers.
  • Text messaging, calendar and all other dated items are not affected, just pop email it seems.
Any comments or suggestions please post. Thanks :motdroidhoriz:

Try downloading K-9 and ditch the stock email client. I use to get emails a while back on my Droid with bogus dates. I moved over to K-9 and it hasn't happened since!

IIRC, and this has only been discussed about 500 times so I'm pretty certain that the fix is to boot your phone into safe mode. Check the date, if it's correct reboot the phone and it should be OK from that point on.

Interesting that that bug is still showing up on the D2 however.

Actually, this just occurred with me this AM on a D1. I did a nandroid backup and when it rebooted, it loaded my calendar with this date.

Another re-boot fixed it so far...but I have experienced this at least twice in the past few months.

I saw your post before and although others said it did not work, I tried it anyway. Verifying that it did not work for me either hence the reason for my post. My dates are correct on everything except POP email.

JR will try the K9 have not heard of that until now. Will post results.
Thanks

I find it interesting that the bug wasn't fixed! Well, not interesting but annoying even though it didn't happen to me.

Yep, give K9 a go. I hear nothing but bad stuff about the stock email app.

1969 date issue resolved....

K9 is a Winner ! Removed accounts in stock email client, re-added to K9 and it not only works great but has many more customizeable options for email. THANKS a million.

PS have you every heard of the HandCent app. Cool little free SMS app for Droid, you should check it out. Very customizeable as well.

I just signed up for DirectTV with full Sunday Ticket and they have an NFL Live TV app for droid which comes with it. Active 9.13 will let youi know how it works. Thanks again.

Quick question on K9 where do you set the frequency at which it checks your mail (5 min for example) ? Is that the POLL setting?
Thanks

Thanks JR ! Tried to find a usermanual of some sort regarding all the features could not locate it in app or online. Appreciate your time.

Had this exact date on 6 text messages from different sources that I could not delete and they were growing first 2 then 6 ect. First I removed any 3rd party APPS that had anything to do with text messaging namely SMS-POPUP and missed call app. Second preformed a factory reset. As of Tuesday of this week the weird date text messages have not returned. Also I had this same problem on my droid 1 running Froyo 2.2 but never had this problem running 2.1 Hope this helps a little.
