Custom notification for each contact.

How do i set a custom notification for each contact for texts? I remember being able to on my old droid, but i cant figure it out on the x. Any help?

As far as I know, you can't set a custom notification for each contact/text without using a separate app. At first I used Ringo Lite (free), and it worked great, while I was using the stock texting app. Then I moved on to Handcent (also free) for texting, and setting custom notifications for each contact is a built in option in the program.

blackberry has been doing this for years ... a shame sound profiles are not customizable down to messaging notification sounds and notifier light color for specific contacts

this question has been asked repeatedly on this forum and you have more posts than i do and i assume you should know how to fix this since have presumably helped many others. Use the search function first before posting something, i always do if i have a certain problem. It only takes like 5 minutes to see if your problem has been asked and answered.

Ask and ye shall recieve

1. Click contacts
2. Click on contact you want to set ringtone for
3. Press menu key then edit.
4. Scroll down and press the arrown next to additional info
5. Scroll down again and click on Ringtone (its under Call Handling at the bottom)
6. Set ringtone.

thats only for ringtones, i rarely call people, so im asking for text notifications. Thanks for the answer though!

As mentioned, use Handcent SMS instead of the stock messaging app.

I looked in handcent and couldn't find it. But I loaded whoisit from the market and you can do it with that app. 100% for sure this time Haha.
