Is there a way to have the current month and date displayed somewhere on the homepage or top of screen?

Go to the market and do a search for "date widget" there are hundreds and hundreds of them depending on what function you want or if you want a free one or a paid one. I use Fancy Widgets which shows the time, date and weather on my homescreen, but like I said, there are hundreds of them.
