Creating a wallpaper

I am trying to turn this into a wallpaper for my phone (Fascinate) and am not having any luck. I have already tried Zedge to see if it was already posted, but not as of yet. Could any of you gurus help a brother out? Here is the image:

Would like to have it without the date at the bottom, if at all possible.

What problems are you having when trying to set it as a wallpaper?

It turns out gigantic. I can only see one of the eyes and the nose.

If you have a program like photoshop or paint.net (free) you should be able to black out the date and stuff at the bottom, then resize it to the appropriate dimensions, should be 954x860 or something like that

BTW, I am a sad Titans fan today. They looked terrible yesterday...
