Could a new feature of the update be to track data better?

I have been REALLY trying not to abuse the data plan on my phone. However, my internet quit working recently so I PDANet'd it.

Do you think Verizon will ever 'care' about all the people cheating them on their dataplans?

My worst fear is that they send me (and all of you) an astronomical bill for all the data 'we stole' from them. [Remember, its $50 a GB on tethered or hotspot data plans once you go past 2gb]

Am i just being paranoid or do I have a real concern?

Paranoid.

Ha! No it's a real concern. Just don't go crazy with it. VZW could see the old mobile broadband unlimited plan usage and knew when to slow them down - when they exceed 5GB by a lot or consistently.

There is a new feature coming to My Verizon soon that will allow (near) real-time reporting for your data with available sms/email alerts for 50%, 75%, 95%. Supposed to be able to check accurate data usage within 5 minutes of using it. No more 24-48 hour delays to see what you are at :)

So while you do have a real concern, I'd say use caution and don't blow it out da water!
