contacts not working

When I try to go to my contacts, I get a generic contact list with all my contacts, but when I try to choose one the phone freezes up or takes forever to load one and even that doesn't happen very often. I have resynced with my google account, but is no help. Everything else on the phone works, just the contact issue. The phone is rooted......help.

A little update.I can get my contacts from the phone pad, but that only shows the phone numbers and not the contacts that should be synced with google.And when i do get to the contacts that our synced my phone freezes up.
