clockwork mod recovery issue

alright, i'm working on my first flash of my phone. i've installed clockwork mod recovery and rom manager premium.

i go to rom manager, go to boot into clockwork recovery and i get the following errors:

e: failed to seek in /cache/update.zip
e: signature verification failed

any ideas on what i'm doing wrong or if i'm missing something?
