I have a Kenwood car stereo system and currently have a ipod USB attachment that runs from my stereo to the glove box. Any body know of a similar cord for the Droid. Would just a USB cord work? Would this charge it at the same time? Thanks.
If your stereo has a usb port then a usb cable could be used for your Droid and it should charge it. Or if your stereo has an aux port you could get a regular 3.5mm audio cable and listen to music that way but it won't charge your Droid.
Depends on what your goal is. If you just want the head unit to access music on the SD card and to charge the Droid it will work fine. It won't work for playing audio from apps (Pandora, etc).
Only thing I'd wonder about if using a usb cord to play audio from the SD card is that I'm thinking that you'd have to mount the SD card in order for the stereo to see the music, wouldn't you? If so, if you have any apps that you or a passenger would run that want to use the SD card, well I'm guessing that those wouldn't work. Whereas if you use the audio jack you wouldn't have those issues, but couldn't control the music from the head unit... a trade-off I guess.
