I have followed the instructions for flashing the CM7 rom with no luck. It keeps getting an error and stops, have tried it over 10 times with the same results of ending up at a factory reset. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here is an error log if it helps:

That doesn't look like the D2 build. You can download from download.cyanogenmod.com.

I don't believe there is a d2 stable version yet. Between that and reading Sholes in your error message I'd suggest you double check your download again.

What D2 stable ROM are you referring to? Never knew there was one.

There definitely is no stable D2 ROM, only nightlies. The nightlies are very stable, but we do not have a release on the CM site that is listed as "stable".

Yeah, that's what I thought. Because if there was a stable release and I've been using nightly builds all this time, I've been missing out!

Got the stable from here, CyanogenMod Mirror Network - Powered by TDRevolution and the nightly's from the nightlys section.

I am a newbie at this, how do you install through froyo? or is that the same as using the rom manager?

These are the instructions I have been using :

0. Root your phone.
1. Download ROM Manager (Free) from the Market.
2. Flash ClockworkMod recovery through ROM Manager.
3. Download CyanogenMod, choose Google Apps.
4. Press OK to install.

There's your problem! The Sholes is a totally different phone, not even available in the U.S., I believe. You should be looking for the Droid 2 nightlies. You're probably going to need to SBF, if you haven't ruined your phone, that is.

Wow, I feel a little bit retarded now, thought for sure I had the right downloads. Thank you for the link, I am assuming all should go well now.

Haha it's alright, we all make stupid mistakes occasionally. You should be fine now that you have the right file.
