Cant get text from person

Got a quick question, somehow one of my friends can send me text messages but I dont get any alerts or it doesnt show up in my list. If i text him something then I can see his messages but if i exit his messages then i cant find them anymore??? Whats going on??/

Make sure you do not have this individuals setting to silent or sent to voice mail.

yea I checked all of that and its not set to it. Im at a lost right now I tried deleting his contact and re adding it and it still does not work....

Not sure it will rectify the issue but have you tried a different app? If so and the issue still exist I do not know what else to suggest.
