Can't connect to apps over WiFi

Hi, I have a GSM Galaxy Nexus (Australia) and today I've started to have issues connecting to apps such as Instagram, Bleacher Report, etc over my home WiFi. The phone will still connect to websites using the browser, just not the apps. The apps work fine when using mobile data but fail when connected to WiFi.
I've tried powering off the router, powering off the phone, uninstalling/re-installing the apps, and I still can't seem to connect.
I'm not too knowledgeable on technology and was wondering if anyone knew of a solution? As well as that, is this more likely a phone issue or an issue with my router?
