Cannot switch on

I am actually helping a friend to figure out what the problem is on his Incredible. He told me that when he tried to flash the Android 2.2 about three months ago, the computer was accidently powered off and that lost the power supply to the phone. After that the phone cannot switch on again, in another word, "brick". So he gave it to me for help. I read couple threads and tried the battery-pull method but won't work. When connect a power cable to it, no light is on. It is completely on response when pressing the volume - and power at the same time. Any help would be appreciated.

Try to charge the battery in a different device. After sitting that long could be dead.
