Can you change the notification tone on the DX2?

Yup...
You can pick up a ring tone app from the market...
Or you can just put the sounds files in /sdcard/media/audio/notifications/
I believe

Yes, this is correct. I just put all mine in this location without getting an app.

Inside /sdcard/media/audio/... There should be a folder for ringtones notifications and alarms...
And you should be able to put then in accordingly.. Then it should show

I just checked on my phone where they are and they are actually in /mnt/sdcard/notifications. I created this folder to add my own personal favorite notifications. All the os cares about is that there is a folder somewhere named "notifications" since that's what it's looking for. So technically, it shouldn't matter where on your sdcard the notifications folder is. You could even have 2 or 3 and the os will lump them all together when you need to select a notification.
