ok while I am in no way a newb to ROM flashing by any means.....nor SBF'ing. BUT I am new to the DX. I got it yesterday, Rooted, OC'd, froze bloat, and tried to flash GB and found myself in endless bootloops for almost a day before I found my savior as no other SBF methods were able to work.

Today I think I want to try the GB again. Last time I didn't read....at all and flashed only the .595 without anything else.....bad idea. SBF to the rescue. But now I have done some reading and downloading and I would like to try again.

I am using everything out of the TBH app so I apologize if the names are looking different then what you are used to.....but I have downloaded

Full Gingerbread (2.3.3) Rooted
Full Gingerbread (2.3.3) Rooted (591)
Full Gingerbread (2.3.3) Rooted and Deodexed (595)

I have Droid 2 Bootstrap in my titanium backup so I can get that back after all this is done. But where I am confused is do I have to flash the first file, then 591, then 595 all without exiting CWM?

I do the wipe and all before initial flash of the 2.3.3 but I don't do it in between each step right?

Any expected boot loops after all of this?

Thanks in advance. I am waiting "patiently" with phone in hand and recovery already bootstrapped:big smile:

The only one that you don't exit recovery is the 3 part 588 from tbh, and do not wipe in between those 3. The 591 had a kernel update that needs to be installed but I have read that you can install that after a boot but I gave not tried that, I always do the kernel update right after the rom again with no wipe.

I just went from stock froyo to Gb 595 via TBH app. Super easy.

1- Downloaded GB (2.3.3) Rooted.
2- Full GB (2.3.3) Rooted and Deodexed 4.5.595.

No problems and it worked. I could never get to 595 any other way. i would always boot loop or freeze.

Once on GB, I used D2 bootstrap and backed up after each step.

You must follow the directions exactly to the letter, if you do not I can not guarantee the results. Please do not post questions here if you have not read the directions below. Before beginning ensure that you understand the directions that you have read.

Good now that you have read above the you are ready to proceed.

1. Your phone must be in the following condition before you can use the patched updater.

  1. Your phone is running the 2.3.340 official Froyo Firmware
  2. Your phone has been rooted
  3. Your phone is using the Droid2 Bootstrap program (Do Not Use DroidX Bootstrap)

2. Have you gotten your phone in the proper state to upgrade to the newest leaked Gingerbread. Yes go ahead, if No go back to step 1.

Download all 3 files and place on the root of your sdcard.
Install File Part 1
md5 = 55903982607d3b1b22b3b9f3af1ff807
size = 99.1 MB (103875449 bytes) md5 = a021e4e0dffb39018bdabf7e679f4d35
size = 16.2 MB (17028214 bytes) md5 = 7cb97560c1f757ad2b9ccd131200911b
size = 220.7 KB (226025 bytes)

  1. Restart the Droid2 Bootstrap in recovery mode.
  2. Install all three zips files in order. DO NOT LEAVE RECOVERY UNTIL ALL 3 HAVE FINISHED BEING INSTALLED.

I went from 573 to 591 because the TBH app does not have a 588. It has 573, 591 and 595, but no 588.

Am I ok going from the 573 to 591 or 595 without going to 588?

If I am NOT ok doing this, why would TBH not add 588 to their app?

Had major boot loop issues myself till I did it EXACTLY like this :

1. Made gb folder on my sd containing: z4root, .595-deodexed.zip, parts 1-3 of the tbh .588.zips, droid2 bootstrapper, and just in case the apex gb kernel update.zip.

2. Sbf to. 340 and after boot skip all activations and install z4root and d2bootstrap.

3. Root the phone with z4 and after reboot launching cw with d2 bootstrap.

4. Wipe data x3, wipe cache x3, wipe dalvik cache x1

5. Run. 588 zip 1 then 2 then 3 in same cw session. DO NOT LEAVE CW OR DO ANYTHING TILL ALL THREE INSTALL. Do NOT reboot!

6. AFTER COMPLETE STEP 5.. again wipe data x3, cache x3, dalvik x1.. now reboot without the damn bootloops lol.

7. Again skip all activations. Install and launch cw again with d2 bootstrap.

8. Install the 595deodexed zip. Wipe cache x3, data x3, and dalvik x1.

9. Reboot and enjoy 595.

Note...if kernel still says #1 like mine did simply go into clockwork and install the apex kernel update posted o. The apex 2.0 thread for gb.

Intense.. I don't even wipe data or cache from .340 up to 2.3.3 (595) and I'll even restore my froyo nandroid. Then install GB In clockwork. Just gotta make sure not to leave cw before reinstalling GB
