can i uninstall the internet?

I downloaded the dolphin browser HD and I was wondering if I could uninstall the internet program.

Or does that delete the ability to go online all together?

And I read that task managers kill the battery more then if you don't have one. Is that true?

Just some questions I know you guys can answer for me.

:)

Since "Internet" aka the default browser is a pre-installed app, you would have to be rooted and manually delete it from the system apps folder. It shouldn't break anything, however you never know. As far as task managers go, different people have different results. If you are careful in what you download/run then running a task manager can end up slowing you down and killing your battery. However if you are experiencing any odd behavior or really short battery life then you could give it a shot. Basically, the only time a task killer is helpful is when you have programs that don't like to close when you want them too. Where they can become bad is when they kill programs that shouldn't be killed (like system ones), or when they kill programs that will open back up a little bit later, because it becomes a cycle of open/close/open/close.

funny you should ask that. i deleted it just today (as well as 11 other system apps) and everything works great. do NOT delete phone.apk though trust me lol

be sure to make a backup first as you probably well know. :D

EDIT: oops maybe you aren't rooted lol i just assumed you were. good luck :D

The internet is an application on the phone and cannot be removed at this point. No need to remove it anyway as we don't need the extra space and it doesn't run unless you open it.

As for task managers, you don't really need it. Do a search on that topic for more background info.

Enjoy your new phone!

This is the incredible section remember? We don't have root access (yet) and cannot delete system apps. Not like it's really needed though. ;)

Thank you everyone. I'm sorry I didn't check to see if I could delete the internet, I was just wondering.

For the task managers, ill check to see how I like the non task manager battery life.

Dumb question, how do I make a backup?

I haven't made one yet and I really want to. Do I do it on the phone or computer or both?
