Camera picture quality...

So the DX as you all know has a 8mp camera and I know if you zoom in you loose quality. But I just took a normal pic with no zoom and it says its only a 6mp picture under the info for the pic. How come its not taking pics at 8mp?

In camera, options, settings, picture resolution.

Widescreen at 6 mp is default, large is just underneath at 8 mp.

Ok, thanks i figured it out. Do you do the same thing with the video camera to set it to record in 720p?
