Call Times

This may seem to be unimportant, but for important phone calls it would be nice to see the exact time that a call was received. Currently, my phone only states things like "2 days ago." Is there any way to change this?

I have a new Driod pro. It is important to me to see exact call times as well. I am disappointed that exact times and dates are not displayed. How primitive. I may return my Droid and go back to Blackberry.

Others issues are: not being able to make exceptions while in silent mode, not being able to apply ringtones as alarm tones, sms and emails.

It would be nice if the pre installed Gmail application would notify me of emails. I have to open gmail and refresh to find emails.

Missing Blackberry,
S.

The installed Gmail application will notify you of email after you merely enable that setting in Gmail. As for the sound profile customizations you want, which I miss as a former blackberry user as well, that is simply the cost of switching to android from BB. In my opinion the pros of android have so far outweighed the cons to make switching back to BB a non-starter.

Simply stated, if you ONLY use your phone for email/sms/calendar, then a BB may work for you. If you want to use it for all those things PLUS anything app/web based (and prefer FULL TWO WAY GMAIL SYNC [which is still a pipe dream on BB]) then you should give your droid time to grow on you.

:)

Its important for me to know how long each call was. This is extremely helpful especially when calling those 1-900 numbers. Bastards always trying to charge me for more than I actually use. $2.99 a minute adds up ya know.

Jk

Thank you Andys Friend,
Do you know of any corrections within Droid Pro to enable call time and date to be displayed ? Rather than 2 hrs ago, 5 days ago etc.?
Its very inconvenient and inaccurate.
I see Verizon will introduce IPhone this quarter... wondering if that will be any better ....

Sharonindie...I've used just about every Blackberry Verizon has ever carried and I would not switch by Pro for any of them. I have to confess, I didn't exactly feel that way the first couple of days after I bought the Pro. So, like andysfriend said...give yourself a day or so to learn how to set up your Pro to do what you want. As far as different notifications for different people, I think there are a couple of apps on the Android Market that will let you do that (but I won't swear to it).

Gmail Notification/ apps for profile rings

I thought I had set u my Pro to notify me of received emails. I still have to open gmail and refresh to get them. Can anyone help me set up my pro so that I can get a notification without going through those steps? THX :-)

Also, What apps can anyone recommend that will enable me to use rintones as alarm, sms and email notification so that I can tell what I have received without looking at mobile?

Is there a way to silence Droid calls/notifications with exceptions to certain people? In addition can I use an app to make profile ringtones for certain contacts?

Droid Pro Vs. New Iphone coming and other new phones...... any comments?
I am still within the 30 return.
THX

I'll give it a try:
gmail - on your phone - menu>settings>accounts>g (gmail)>select what you want sycn'd to your phone. If you have a gmail account established any mail received by gmail should be pushed to your phone automatically.

gmail notification - to select a notification tone different from a phone ringtone and different from SMS - select the gmail icon on your phone>menu>more>settings>email notifications>select ringtone.

Profile ringtones -for a ringtone associated with a person - on your phone select contacts>type in the name>menu>edit>page to bottom of page>additional information>page to default ringtone>select a different ringtone for that person. You can also take care of this -"Is there a way to silence Droid calls/notifications with exceptions to certain people" from that location.

So, you now have a different ringtone for a phone call, a different tone for each person, you can have no ringtone for certain people, a different tone for SMS and a different one for email. Hope this helps.

sharonindie - one good app to try for ringtones is Zedge. Free on the market. I become attached to certain ring tones and notification sounds and I've found all my favorites on zedge.

So..

Does anyone know how to get the Droid Pro to show the date and time of the call rather than 'how long ago' the call was made.

Perhaps there is a better dialer that will allow this?

I have never seen a phone that referenced past calls this way and I can't imagine why a designer would do this and not leave a preference to show it as either way.
