Bottom Button on/off intermittently

I notice thyat the bottom four button (hardware buttons) go on/off intermittently...is this normal? perhaps based on lighting conditions? I do NOT have the auto brightness selected by the way

yup. move your hand over the light sensor and wait a second, then remove it and wait a second. =)
