Isn't bloatware without ability to unistall illegal? The courts have already ruled in favor of phone owners their right to do as they please (rooting, mods) with there phones as we have full ownership of phone, without interference from providers. Isn't Verizon violating this ruling? I want this memory bandwidth, battery using zombie off MY phone!.

Bionic is epic, just needs some bugs squashed, and camera needs major LOVE. : )

I'm fairly certain if it was then it would have been in a court case over a year ago. There is nothing that says they cannot have additional software on the device (to the best of my knowledge). Also, it is removable, it just requires rooting your device. Nothing says they have to make it easy to remove ;)

Finally remembered where this idea may have come from. No, bloatware is not illegal, and the only court case that could be brought against Verizon or other wireless providers is if the devices they bloat are running off of certain towers/frequencies/something that google acquired. However their radios do not currently do that. Believe the article was floating around the forums a week or two ago. I should really be asleep...

Why are so many lawsuitish posts suddenly starting to show up?

Because they are lazy. Instead of doing something about whatever the issue is, they've chosen to complain and wait for someone else to take action.

Don't want "bloatware" on your phone? Don't buy one that has it or root your phone and delete it.

Don't like Verizon's tiered data plans? Don't buy one.

Wow, the viral response and name calling is pure childish and disgusting. Lazy? I worked very hard for the money to upgrade from OG to the bionic. Lazy is the typical troll response without any real information about the subject. Bloatware is fine as long as you can remove it. Yes I can root, but what if want to stay stock and choose to remove the bloat as it is my phone. KISS

Smart phones are no longer phones, they are personnel computers that happen to have a phone.

Have a great day folks. : )

Rooting your phone should not be the end all be all to the problems with these phones. I am not saying they should or shouldn't have the bloatware but I get tired of people berating posters for not rooting their phones. Guess what when we root our phones we are in the VAST minority of smartphone users. So for most everyone in the world with a smartphone rooting shouldn't be the answer to their phone troubles. End rant.

GO BIG CORPORATE AMERICA you can do whatever you want to me & I like it, c'mon Verizon! whooo whoo!

No thanks I'm with the other guy-companies should be careful selling products without a proper disclosure of the "trickery" because if you don't I'll hit you where it hurts...the wallet.
